Both me and my partner smoke pot about 3 times a week. We were trying to concieve for 5 months now, no luck. Of cource once i become pregnant we both would stop. Were soon about to quit, but would it make a difference on conceiving?
Many people smoke pot even your bosses. people you think wouldnt. They just dont talk about it. Just because we smoke pot and thousands of others do doesnt make us bad parents. The kind of drugs that are serious are class A drugs, Coke, E pills, Herion, even alchol
why-us- learn to spell please i think your brain dead
Pots not an addicting drug like cigs. You might want it to feel good but you dont need it. We both can stop with a drop of a dime, but my question wasnt asking is it addicting

You should stop smoking before you try to conceive, not just because it lowers your chances of conceiving, but also because it kills your baby’s developing brain cells. It lowers a mans sperm count and can cause defects in the embryo which can cause an early miscarriage.

It could
20. May 2010 at 12:07 am
No but why would potheads want to raise a baby?
20. May 2010 at 12:07 am
Pot lowers the sperm count in males which could be making it harder to concieve so i suggest staying off of pot for the time being. Good Luck to you both!
20. May 2010 at 12:07 am
Any type of smoking cuts down on a males sperm count.
20. May 2010 at 12:07 am
oh lordy lordy…
20. May 2010 at 12:07 am
Sure will and it’s long term affect could make you both infertile, and what about the baby, are you going to make it an addict in the womb if you do conceive?
20. May 2010 at 12:07 am
no its a common misconception it has no effect on your reproductive organs and wont cause birth defects also your partner is not subjected to the myth that it lowers your sperm count because its a myth (and dont kid yourself u know its wasnt 3 times a week it was more like 3 times a day) jk and i can assure u from a pot smokers stance it doesnt affect your fertility unlike the other people’s responses
20. May 2010 at 12:07 am
yes stop smoking the dope and a child is a gift a baby dosent need a drugged up mother or father it needs love and lots of attension please give up the pot before you even try for a baby
20. May 2010 at 12:07 am
It does make a difference for him, he won’t produce as much
sperm while smoking pot, but I don’t believe it makes much of
a difference for you.
20. May 2010 at 12:07 am
Yes. Smoking pot lowers the sperm count in men. That’s probably why your not conceiving. Don’t stop smoking pot once you conceive, stop now.
20. May 2010 at 12:07 am
Smoking pot does not affect conception. But the longer you guys smoke, the harder it will be to quit.
20. May 2010 at 12:07 am
i don’t know if it would make a difference to conceive – but I STRONGLY suggest that you stop smoking BEFORE you DO conceive. My reasoning is that whatever chemicals (which pot contains over 400) will affect your egg and sperm before you have even concieved. Besides, by the time you DO find out that you are pregnant, it is very early in the pregnancy and that is THE MOST FORMATIVE period of time in the development of the fetus.
You are WAY wrong in your approach.
20. May 2010 at 12:07 am
yes and besides you are probably going to end up having no babies since your system is so damaged—
20. May 2010 at 12:07 am
yes, it will make a difference. it affects male sperm count and can eventually lead to infertility, You should be as healthy as possible before getting pregnant. please stop smoking before you even try to get pregnant!
"Men who smoke marijuana frequently have significantly less seminal fluid, a lower total sperm count and their sperm behave abnormally, all of which may affect fertility adversely, a new study in reproductive physiology at the University at Buffalo has shown.
20. May 2010 at 12:07 am
Yes absolutely, mostly from the male end, as it lowers sperm count. Besides, THC stays in your blood stream for a few weeks, so stopping once you find out you’re pregnant is a little too late. I know how much more fun life can be a little altered, but if you really want a baby, I’d recommend quitting from now until you’re done breastfeeding it. Congratulations in advance, and good luck!!
20. May 2010 at 12:07 am
I am not sure how if affects females in concieving, but it dramaticly lowers the males sperm count and it could take him months to rebuild. What kind of parents smoke pot anyways? It should have been stopped the second having a kid popped into your head! You know what kinds of things could have happened had you smoked and been pregnant and not known? Nice going
20. May 2010 at 12:07 am
There is a link between marijuana and fertility problems (see link). And it’s better to get the THC out of your system before you get pregnant. So quit already.
20. May 2010 at 12:07 am
Those who are against marijuana will tell you anything to get you to stop. Loads of girls have gotten pregnant while smoking up, it never lessened their chances. It is probably as bad for you as alcohol is before conception. It’s up to you whether you quit or not.
20. May 2010 at 12:07 am
yes it can but i don’t think we need another kid waking around with fry-ed brains
20. May 2010 at 12:07 am
Don’t pay any attention to most of these brain dead answers.
Smoking 3 times a week will not effect your conception. You are looking for one quick fix and you may have other problems that are affecting your fertility.
And btw, I had my son at 16, and because I was sick the entire pregnancy and not gaining weight, the doc suggested I might try smoking a little reefer to be able to eat. He figured it was better than my baby starving to death because I was unable to keep anything down. Well, guess what, my son who is now 23 has an IQ at the top of the charts (150 range) so the bs about it affecting his brain is just that.
Oh and finally, marijuana is not physically addictive in the clinical sense. It can be mentally addictive but you do not "jones" for it, nor do you crave it like other drugs (including caffeine and nicotine).
.
20. May 2010 at 12:07 am
yes, my hubby and i stopped trying to prevent pregnancy for about 5 months, we were both regular smokers, then we decided to quit and see if it helped, and we both started taking multivitamins.
i got pregnant the very next time i ovulated!
it could just be a coincedence, but it might not be.
20. May 2010 at 12:07 am
No and its not healthy to do drugs if your trieing to concieve or pregnant. and if drugs show up in your babys system the state can take it away which probably would be a good thing. idiots…….
20. May 2010 at 12:07 am
I get where you’re coming from,my daughters father and I were trying to conceive before I became pregnant with her and it was hard because we both smoke and drink everyday. So I stop drinking, still no baby my doctor said we needed to stop smoking, but it was too hard but then I wasn’t feeling good and I stopped smoking I went to the doctor and he told me I was 4-5 weeks pregnant.I really didn’t want to smoke then her father kept doing it.And the doctor told us if we kept doing it our baby will lack in brain cells and could become special if you get my drift mentally disturbed. After that I listen but he act like it was too hard it was but now we are having a child he didn’t listen,I guess he thought the doctors were playing.Instead of our daughter becoming mentally disturbed or lacing brain cells she was born at 35 weeks gestational and weighed 3lbs 6ounces.We both were sad and we love our baby to death, she was small but I thank God those were her only problems, she didn’t have any breathing problems or nothing she just had to stay in the NICU until she gain 4lbs six ounces. You wouldn’t think that take a long time, but remember babies gain weight when first born then they lose weight so she went through the process of gaining and losing for about 3weeks to month. She was born Nov.15th and didn’t come home til before christmas and I was sad cuz my baby couldn’t be with her family for thanksgiving,so think before having children please so you won’t have to go through this.
20. May 2010 at 12:07 am
Yes it will. It even increases the risk of birth defects because his sperm and your eggs aren’t exactly high quality if your are smoking pot. I know this is probably the last thing you want to hear but you might as well quit now and give your baby the best chance at being "normal". You were going to quit anyway though right? So just start now. I know an insane amount of people who have tried to quit but haven’t been able too for a number of reasons, in fact every person I know who has tried to quit has been unable to. So good luck.
20. May 2010 at 12:07 am
Will pot make it hard to conceive? Oh Boy! So long as you are careful which orifice it enters – no.
20. May 2010 at 12:07 am
Okay, I’ll be frank. My mom didn’t smoke when she was pregnant with my sis, who had behavioral problems growing up. She smoked the whole time she was pregnant with me, and I was a ‘fantastic" baby, according to her. Both my sister and I have very high IQ’s, were at the top of our class, and in gifted and talented programs all throughout school.
Now for me. My boyfriend and I smoke daily, although I’ve cut way back to very occasional puffs while pregnant. I can’t even sit next to him on the couch without getting pregnant! It lowers sperm count in some, but not all. In your partner’s case, it could be from lowered sperm count, or sometimes it just takes awhile.
I know alot of people don’t agree with smoking pot, but in my experience, most people I know smoke regularly and they are fine citizens with fine children. We are older, and profesionals, and many many of our parents smoked in the sixties and seventies and continue to do so now.
marijuana for some, including me, has medicinal as well as spiritual properties, and I do not see a problem with it intrinsically. This is not to say that marijuana use doesn’t adversely affect some individuals, simply that it is a shame that a plant put here on God’s great earth would be grouped together with addictive and inorganic substances like meth, ecstacy, and other hard or refined drugs.
